Interval Games

Let I1 and I2 be intervals of real numbers. An interval game is played in this way: player 1 secretly selects x ∈ I1 and player 2 secretly and independently selects y ∈ I2. After x and y are revealed, payoffs are given by some predetermined function with domain I1 × I2. The payoff function for a zero sum interval game is a function A : I1 × I2 → R. This is interpreted to mean that the second pl...

Convex Games versus clan Games

In this paper we provide characterizations of convex games and total clan games by using properties of their corresponding marginal games. We show that a “dualize and restrict”procedure transforms total clan games with zero worth for the clan into monotonic convex games. Furthermore, each monotonic convex game generates a total clan game with zero worth for the clan by a “dualize and extend” pr...

Cores of convex and strictly convex games

We follow the path initiated in Shapley (1971) and study the geometry of the core of convex and strictly convex games. We define what we call face games and use them to study the combinatorial complexity of the core of a strictly convex game. Remarkably, we present a picture that summarizes our results with the aid of Pascal’s triangle. JEL classification: C71.

Locally Convex Games

We introduce a new class of cooperative games by using the notion of local supermodularity. Therefore locally convex games can be considered as relaxations of convex games. Cooperative games with the unit marginal worth property are defined and characterizations of locally concave (convex) games with this property are proved. Moreover, we obtain a characterization of a subclass of locally conca...
